Purpose: To load the Site accurately and perform analytics to optimize our services

Purpose: To process purchases, arrange shipping, send invoices, screen for fraud, and communicate with you about your orders

3.4 Website – Newsletter and Email Marketing

Purpose: To send you gut health tips, product updates, and promotional offers

When you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address. You may unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any marketing email or by contacting us directly.


3.5 Website – Expert Consultation Booking

Purpose: To connect you with our gut health expert team for a free consultation

3.6 Website – Referral Programme

Purpose: To administer our Refer & Win programme and reward eligible participants

When you participate in our referral programme, we collect your name and contact details, as well as those of the person you are referring. By participating, you confirm you have the consent of the person you are referring to share their information with us.


3.7 Website – Map My Gut Microbiome Profiling Kit

Purpose: To fulfil your order and facilitate the processing of your microbiome profiling results

Map My Gut is a physical gut microbiome profiling kit available for purchase on our website. When you order and register a kit, we collect: your name, contact details, shipping address, and any health information you provide during kit registration. The biological sample you submit is sent to our laboratory partner for analysis. Results are shared back with you through the app or a dedicated report. Your biological sample data is not shared with third-party advertisers.


3.8 Website – Gut Reset Clinic

Purpose: To provide clinical gut health consultations and personalised treatment plans

The Gut Reset Clinic is a clinical service accessible via a subdomain of our website. If you engage with this service, you may provide additional health, medical, and personal information beyond what is described elsewhere in this policy. Data collected through the Gut Reset Clinic is subject to this Privacy Policy and any additional terms presented at the time of booking. Please review those terms carefully.


3.9 Website – Order Tracking

Purpose: To allow you to track the delivery status of your orders

Shared With: ClickPost (our order tracking service provider)

Order tracking is powered by ClickPost (thegoodbug.clickpost.in). Your order ID, name, contact details, and shipping information may be shared with ClickPost solely for the purpose of providing tracking updates. ClickPost's privacy policy applies to their processing of this data.


3.10 Mobile App – Account Information

Purpose: To create and manage your account, verify your identity, and personalise your experience

Source: Provided directly by you during registration and onboarding

We use a phone number-based OTP (One-Time Password) authentication system. No email address or password is required. Information collected during registration includes: mobile phone number (used to send and verify your OTP), name, age, and gender.

Your phone number is used solely for authentication and transactional communications. It is not used for unsolicited marketing without your consent.


3.11 Mobile App – Health and Wellness Data

When you use health-tracking features in our app, you may voluntarily provide the following types of health-related data:

  • Stool logs and digestive health records

  • Water intake information

  • Sleep data

  • Physical activity and exercise data

  • Food and calorie logs

  • Body weight measurements

  • Digestive symptoms and wellness notes

  • Gut health score and gut profile generated within the app


If you choose to connect your device health services, we may also access certain data from:

  • Apple HealthKit (iOS)

  • Android Health Connect


This health data is used solely to provide personalized features including: gut health insights, wellness progress tracking, improvement recommendations, and health reports. We only collect and process health data that you voluntarily provide or explicitly authorize through connected health platforms. We do not sell, rent, or share your health data with third-party advertisers.


3.12 Mobile App – AI Gut Coach Conversations

The AI Gut Coach feature is powered by a conversational AI model. When you interact with this feature:

  • Conversation content (your messages and AI responses) may be processed to generate personalized recommendations.

  • Conversation data may be stored to maintain continuity across sessions and improve the quality of responses over time.

  • We do not use your AI Gut Coach conversations for advertising purposes or share them with third-party advertisers.

  • Conversation data may be reviewed by our team in anonymized or aggregated form to improve the AI model's accuracy and safety.

You should not share sensitive personal information beyond what is necessary for health guidance within the AI Gut Coach.


3.13 Gut Test Module (Website and Mobile App)

The Gut Test is a questionnaire-based assessment available on both our Shopify website (thegoodbug.com) and our mobile app. Both platforms share the same backend infrastructure, hosted securely on Amazon Web Services (AWS). This means your Gut Test data is stored and processed in a unified, consistent environment regardless of which platform you use to take the test.

When you complete the Gut Test, we collect:

  • Your responses to gut health and lifestyle questions (such as digestion patterns, diet habits, energy levels, and symptoms)

  • Your gut profile score generated from your responses

  • The platform you used to take the test (website or app)

  • Any updates or re-assessments you complete over time

This information is used solely to:

  • Generate your personalised gut health profile

  • Recommend products from The Good Bug relevant to your gut health needs

  • Track changes in your gut profile over time as you re-take the assessment

Infrastructure and data storage: Your Gut Test data is stored on AWS servers. AWS is a third-party cloud infrastructure provider and acts as a data processor on our behalf. AWS does not access or use your personal data for its own purposes. AWS maintains its own security and compliance certifications; more information is available at aws.amazon.com/compliance.

We do not share your Gut Test responses or gut profile with third-party advertisers. Product recommendations are made solely based on your questionnaire responses and are not influenced by external commercial arrangements.


4. Minors

Our website and mobile application are not intended for individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16 without verifiable parental consent.

We do offer a Kids Health product range (including Happy Tummies) which is intended to be purchased by parents or guardians on behalf of children. If you are purchasing for a child, you as the parent or guardian are providing consent for the transaction. We do not collect personal data directly from children in this process — only the purchasing adult's information is collected.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information without your consent, please contact us at tgb@seventurns.in and we will promptly review and delete such information from our systems.


5. How We Use Your Personal Information

We use your personal information for the following purposes:

  • To process and fulfill your orders, including payment processing, shipping, and delivery confirmations

  • To create and manage your account and provide access to our mobile app features

6.1 Service Providers

  • Warehousing and fulfillment partners: Receive order and shipping information to deliver your purchases.

  • ClickPost: Powers our order tracking service. Receives order ID, name, contact details, and shipping information solely to provide tracking updates.

  • Typeform: Powers our expert consultation booking form. Receives information you submit in the consultation form.

  • AI infrastructure providers: May process conversation data from the AI Gut Coach to generate responses. These providers are contractually bound to process data only on our behalf and not for their own purposes.

  • Laboratory partner (Map My Gut): Receives and analyses your biological sample to generate your microbiome profile. They are bound by confidentiality obligations and do not use your data for advertising.

  • Google Analytics: We use Google Analytics to understand how users interact with our website. See Google's privacy policy at google.com/intl/en/policies/privacy.

  • LinkedIn: We use a LinkedIn Insight Tag (tracking pixel) on our website to measure ad performance and understand our audience on LinkedIn. Your visit data may be shared with LinkedIn. You can opt out via your LinkedIn account settings or at linkedin.com/psettings/guest-controls/retargeting-opt-out.

  • Meta (WhatsApp): When you contact us via WhatsApp, your communication is processed by Meta's platform.


6.2 Legal Disclosures

6.3 Health Data — Special Restrictions

We treat health and wellness data with heightened care. Your health data collected through the app will not be:

  • Sold to any third party

  • Shared with advertisers or marketing platforms

  • Used to make decisions that adversely affect your legal rights or access to services


7. Behavioural Advertising

We use your website usage information and purchase history to show you targeted advertisements that may be relevant to your interests. Our advertising partners include:

8. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active, or as necessary to provide services, fulfill legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.


8.1 Account and Health Data

All personal information, including health data collected through the app, is retained for as long as your account remains active. If you delete your account:

  • All associated personal and health data will be permanently deleted from our systems within 1 business day of your deletion request.

  • Once deleted, this data cannot be recovered.

  • Anonymized or aggregated data that cannot identify you may be retained for analytical purposes.


8.2 AI Gut Coach Conversation Data

Conversation data from the AI Gut Coach is retained for the duration of your account to maintain continuity of recommendations. Upon account deletion, conversation data is also deleted within the same 1-business-day window described above.


8.3 Transaction Records

Transaction records and financial data may be retained for longer periods as required by applicable tax, accounting, or other legal obligations, typically up to 7 years.

  • We may send transactional SMS or RCS messages (such as order confirmations, shipping updates, and account alerts) to your registered mobile number, including if your number is registered under DND (Do Not Disturb) services, as these are transactional messages permitted under applicable regulations.

By registering, you authorize us to send transactional SMS/RCS communications to your number regardless of DND registration.

If you grant our app access to Apple HealthKit or Android Health Connect, the following restrictions apply in addition to our general data practices:

  • Data obtained from Apple HealthKit or Android Health Connect will not be used for advertising or marketing purposes.

  • We will not share HealthKit or Health Connect data with third parties for any purpose not disclosed in this Privacy Policy or without your explicit consent.

  • We will not sell HealthKit or Health Connect data to data brokers or advertising networks.

  • HealthKit and Health Connect data will only be used within the app to provide health-tracking, analytics, and coaching features.

You may revoke access to HealthKit or Health Connect at any time through your device's Settings app.

We implement commercially reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information from unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. These include encrypted data transmission (TLS/SSL), access controls, and regular security reviews.
